Where have I been?

I’ve been posting fairly sporadically lately. I could tell you that I’m busy (I am) and I could tell you that I hate using WordPress (I don’t) but really I’ve just felt uninspired. I’ve started a few posts but they all seem to be beating the same dead topics into the ground.

I really have been busy though. About 10 days ago I took on a pretty exciting design job that will be launching in early November. I’m done coding the initial XHTML/CSS mock up and I am adding content and dynamic code to the site over the next few days. Then we bug test, edit the details, and launch. It’s kind of fun working on a project that is slightly rushed - working under a bit of pressure tends to force me to push myself and learn new things.

I’ve also been dabbling in PHP, more specifically the CakePHP framework. For those of you who aren’t aware of Cake it’s a PHP framework, similar to Ruby on Rails, but the code is PHP. Mastering CSS and XHTML is fun, but at the end of the day the real magic of a website happens behind the scenes where PHP and MySQL work together to push out dynamic content.

Why have I felt uninspired to write? Who knows. Maybe I just need a break from the computer. I will certainly be posting again when this new design goes live. Hopefully I find something to write about before that because I really do enjoy writing.
