The Greatest?

tiger.gifAnyone who has known me for any length of time knows that I love golf. I try to practice 3 or 4 times a week, play once or twice a week, and I love watching it on television.

Watching Tiger Woods win his 12th major championship was incredible. He left everyone else behind. Won by five strokes. Made even his closest competitors look like amateurs (what happened Phil?) and played the back nine knowing he had won the tournament as long as he didn’t have a heart attack walking up to the 18th green.

Is Tiger the greatest athlete of all time? Maybe. Gene Wojciechowski thinks so.

The truth is he has neutered, for lack of a better word, his peers. They aren’t the challenge; history is.

It certainly looked that way today. Actually, it looked that way the past three tournaments that he’s won - and he won all three in succession.

  • He is definitly the greatest golfing athlete of his era. Nobody even comes close.

But to say he is the greatest of all time is a little unfair, as the game has changed remarkably in the last 10 years.

When he beats Nicklaus’s 18 major wins, then I don’t think there will be much of an argument.

As the commentators said in the final round… “He is a freak.”
