The Switch: Part 1
I’ve had my eye on Apple for a while now. When Apple released the MacBook I knew I would be switching as soon as I saved up the cash. I also decided I would spend a little extra (okay, a lot extra) and buy a new 23″ Apple Cinema Display.
In late July I bought the ACD and ordered the MacBook shortly after that. The time between ordering my MacBook from Apple.com and actually receiving it seemed quite a bit longer than the 5 days it took.
The MacBook arrived at 9:45am on Tuesday, August 2nd - I remember the time because the FedEx guy ringing the doorbell woke me up. By 10:00am I had everything setup and was happily playing with OSX and downloading all the updates.
So far, I’ve enjoyed every moment I spend on OSX. Thanks to a few friends giving me tips, the transition has been very smooth. I’ll write more about how I made the transition in a later post - using up all the possible “switch” content in one post wouldn’t be very exciting now, would it?
This post is mostly to brag about my setup, actually. To show off a few pictures, let people know that I am not longer designing on a PC. After using Photoshop on a Mac for about 6 hours, I don’t know how I survived on a PC for so long. I also have no idea how I’ve been surviving on small monitors. If you ever have the money to buy a 23″ monitor, or - even better - a 30″, do it. You’ll never look at a computer screen the same again.
I’m enjoying OSX, I’ve been designing non-stop, and I’m excited to be blogging again. Expect a lot more content in the days to come.

You are now officially Mac’d. You’ve done the whole “how do I” routine, read through posts and tutorials, and now posted a celebratory desktop share. Congrats. Now get back to work!

Thanks for giving some Apple love. I like the set up.
Tell me, how well does the dual display work?
I’m coming to you now from my new black MacBook, and I’m thinking of adding on the 23″ monitor.

The dual display is great - but lately I’ve been using the MacBook in clamshell mode when I’m at my desk.
My only issue is that the menubar doesn’t span both monitors, which gets annoying when working with Photoshop, but I love the 23″ dispaly - I’d recommend it to anyone.
